What is solar energy?

Photovoltaic Solar Systems are one of the most popular forms of solar energy, with this type of technology, daylight is converted into free electricity.

This is now the largest usage of Solar Electricity around the world.

Sunlight is made of photons, small particles of energy. These are absorbed and pass through the material of the solar cell (the silicon) of photovoltaic cell.

This creates DC electricity, which is then fed into an inverter which generates AC electricity for use in your home. Any excess electricity is then fed back into the grid and you get paid an additional amount for each Kwh.

How does Solar energy help the environment?

Solar is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint. It represents a clean, green source of energy. There’s nothing about solar power that pollutes mother nature. It doesn’t release any greenhouse gasses. It’s safe and environmentally-friendly. Buildings are responsible for 38 percent of all carbon emissions and going solar can significantly decrease that number. How long does it take to install?

Depending on factors such as the type or property and the size of system can alter the amount of time it takes to install a solar system. A normal domestic property with an average 4kw system should take 1 day to install. With minimal disruptions to your day.

Do I require planning permission?

You would only require planning permission to have Solar panels installed if you lived in a conservation area or a listed building. Otherwise there is no planning permission required.

What is the Feed in tariff?

The Feed-in Tariffs (FIT) scheme is a government programme designed to promote renewable energy and low-carbon electricity generation technologies.
