What is Solar Energy?

Photovoltaic Solar Systems are one of the most popular forms of solar energy, with this type of technology, daylight is converted into free electricity.

Sunlight is made of photons, small particles of energy. These are absorbed and pass through the material of the solar cell.

This creates DC electricity, which is then fed into an inverter which generates AC electricity for use in your home.

How does Solar energy help the environment?

Solar is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint. It represents a clean, green, source of energy. It doesn’t release any greenhouse gasses. It’s safe and environmentally-friendly. Installing a solar panel system will significantly reduce your carbon footprint

How long does it take to install?

Depending on factors such as the type of property and the size of system can alter the amount of time it takes to install a solar system. A normal domestic property with an average 4kw system should take 1 day to install. With minimal disruptions to your day.

Do I require planning permission?

You may require planning permission to have Solar panels installed if you live in a conservation area or a listed building. Otherwise there is no planning permission required. You should contact your local planning department if you are unsure.

Smart Export Guarantee (SEG)

The Smart Export Guarantee is a support mechanism designed to ensure small-scale generators are paid for the renewable electricity they export to the grid. It has been in place since 1 January 2020. If you already receive a Feed in Tariff (FIT) on your installation, this is unaffected by the introduction of the SEG.
