PLANPLAN

A plan for the planet

If you expect to live more than ten years this can make all the difference to your life
A practical approach to:

Climate change

The world resources crisis

And the energy crisis

The history of humankind has been one of consuming , depleting, destroying and devastating the surface of this planet- our own support system, mostly out of ignorance, avarice and wars.

The present is that half the human population suffers serious deprivation, one third are in absolute poverty(according to CARE the big US charity) and most of the rest of us are being poisoned, polluted and undergoing stress.

The future is to make this into a beautiful world, in harmony with natural functions, with plenty for everyone. So we need to understand how to create more than we consume.

The hope is that you can read and understand this little publication, to make a start.

The aim of global Eco is that all people can share in our thirty years of knowledge, data and research to quickly bring about planetary recovery, and progress together.

Fortunately there is a way if we act in time.

The aim of Planplan is to enrich the world.

An advanced human society working in harmony with nature.
Converting atmospheric carbon dioxide into world resources.
Continuous cyclic systems of almost unlimited capacity.

The past.

Originally the land area, almost fully forested, supported a tremendous variety of life forms. Even today the few remaining tropical rain forests are the world’s richest eco structures. We humankind, have destroyed most of the world’s tree cover. Now most of the land area is barren. Trees, the great colonisers of life on this planet, we used for fires, cooking, making pottery, buildings, bridges, boats and ships, metallurgy, casting cannon and clearing the land (slash and burn) to feed the cattle with the grass instead.
Three things happened:

One, the cattle ate the land bare the winds blew away the clay in the soil leaving the sands of the desert.

Two, overproduction in agriculture (often due to war situations) exhausted the plant nutrients, reduced the ‘solar increment’ and the crops failed.

Three, the rains stopped due to deforestation, causing the demise of most of our ancient cities. (one can live for only six days without water).

The results are the bare lands -wastelands, deserts- over of most of Africa, the Middle East, the Far East, Australasia and in north and south America. Probably two-thirds or more of the world’s total land area.
The sunlight which used to give us the food now bounces of into space - by up to 1,000 watts per square metre. The Sahara desert alone, which was once fertile, is larger that USA and India combined.

The present

A truly devastated planet having exhausted most of the natural wealth and polluted the land, the sea and the sky. With half the people going to bed hungry and one in three (according to CARE) living in ‘absolute poverty’.
Even those in the west may suffer stress with social and survival pressures from overwork or unemployment due to the rapidly declining situation, offset to some extent by technological advances. But collapsing faster than the politicians will acknowledge and than most people are aware.

The future.

Is to reverse the decline and destruction of our world support systems.
To create more resources than we consume.
To work in harmony with nature with continuous, and expanding, cyclic systems.
And to provide more than adequate provisioning for any future population.
Planplan intends to use almost exactly the same processes that have run the world carbon cycle since year dot. Those that made the fossil fuel Oil in the first place

THREE MAJOR HAZARDS
Not including asteroids or comet strikes, failure of the gulf stream, solar flares, Volcanoes, tsunamis, or plagues, all of which are possible, but

We are immediately faced with:

  • Our world resources crises of more and more people pursuing less and less resources
  • Global climates change with its unpredictable and threatening future
  • The way we have allowed ourselves to become so dependant upon dwindling oil supplies, world wide, that national and international disasters are inevitable unless we make the necessary changes in time.

Three main Planplan aspects to help understand the solutions (see Slides)

  • How the world carbon cycle works: the oceans converts billions of tonnes of atmospheric carbon into food for the vast marine population (many times that of human numbers).
  • How humankind can use the same or similar processes, on land in shallow ponds, with which to make foods, fuels, fertilisers, fibres, and materials in very large quantities, very quickly and continuously cyclic. Absorbing atmospheric carbon dioxide by millions of tonnes (or more) per unit in the process. Working from any coast the has sunlight, ranging from the equator to the Poles with their long summers (which would shut down in winter).
  • How to use the organic biomass gained, working with natural energy technology to recover the wastelands and change hostile deserts into rich fertile organic agricultural land complete with luxurious human habitation, with sunlight, shade and natural rainfall. It is all possible.
  • We know how. There are almost 10 acres (four hectares) of land per person on the planet most of which is currently desert.

Also: how western gardeners can use the same processes to make their own organic fertiliser - helping to resolve climate change at the same time.
There are thirty million (?) gardeners in Britain alone.

Global eco and predecessors have thirty years of knowledge, research and information on these subjects and seek funds to make this available to all. Once understood the methods can be seen as obvious and simple.

Micro-algae:
Compared with the growth of a tree, which also feeds on atmospheric carbon, their rate of increase is dazzling. Take a look at the rate at which various micro-organisms can multiply. Some bacteria will double in ten minutes. (Consequently, this rate of expansion explains why people, once infected, can die from cholera or meningitis within a day) If the organisms double in one hour, they can increase to seven million fold in the first day.

Micro-algae can multiply up to forty times in 24 hours under ideal circumstances. That means up to 16 billion in one week, and so on… Even if they multiply at, say, just ten times per day, starting with two tonnes of micro-algae, at the end of one week one can have taken ten million tonnes of carbon out of the atmosphere, with a single unit.

Just imagine that happening to tree! Well, that can happen to the basic feedstock of virtually unlimited fertilisers to produce our foods, fuels, fibres, medicines, chemicals and materials. Working from numerous ponds on land, every nation that has a coastline that receives sunlight can create its own world resources on a continuously cyclic basis.
We call it the coastal interface.

To do it.
Along with the basic infrastructure (simple equipment which already exists in use around the world) all we need are the micro-algae, selected from some 20,000 varieties, fresh water (possibly by desalination or inducing rainfall), seawater, air, agitation and sunlight.

Plus, thereafter, the means to deal with the great continuous yields that the system will produce, from which to make the appropriate world resources. So having taken the carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere (and releasing the oxygen) how do we make use of our great nutrient-rich organic biomass?

Fortunately this has been known about
For some thirty years when a group of documentary filmmakers and academics set out to identify the world’s greatest problem, and to find the solutions. The problem turned out to be one of insufficient world resources (even in those days). The solution lay in refertilising the world’s great deserts using natural energy technology and organic cultivation, as a wealth generating process.

Since then, the means to do this, all the methods, equipment, biology, knowledge and understanding have increased greatly, our groups have thirty years of research and experience. It was possible then, and is far more relevant today. Everything one needs for a start already exists in the world -mostly serving other purposes- while the opportunities for development are very wide and various.

There is not just one way to do it but many, many ways already. And in view of such a variety of possible ways, virtually unlimited further innovations and developments can come about - once one understands it

In essence, what we called the Desert Coastal Pilot is that of:

Taking the fresh water and fertiliser from the sea and the air.
Growing organic produce in controlled environments.
Creating good soil followed by open-mode cultivation with tree-cover.
And heading directly into the desert.
Then using trees tactically to induce rainfall as we progress inland.

Our original desert recovery concept for producing the fertilisers is using this rapid growth of micro-algae. It also happens to be the same process that can take carbon dioxide out of the air by billions of tonnes, as one wishes, also releasing oxygen. In our case the prime aim was to provide fertilisers for desert recovery (trees and 60% carbon and can induce rainfall).

The compositions of micro-algae - being very early life forms - contain between them virtually all the elements, nutrients, minerals which make people: plus the foods, fuels, fertilisers, fibres, medicines and many other chemicals and materials that provision, supply and support humankind planet-wide.

We humankind, know how to do this, but do not know that we know it.

Yet it is all so simple once it is understood. However, being a multi disciplinary approach in a world of specialists, there are currently very few people who understand its full span at this time. The sooner our universities take it up the better chance there is for the people and the planet.

Both the natural global function and Planplan are continuously cyclic: taking the carbon out of the air, using it for world resources and when the carbon goes back into the air, taking it out again. A basic process on which the world has been functioning over and over again for billions of years.

Essentially this is the same process as the fossil fuel Oil, but unfossilised, and we can do it in two or three days.

Honestly, there is no time to delay. The world oil supplies are declining more rapidly and seriously than is generally known. Inevitably, things are going to get worse and worse from here on, for all of us, world-wide until we change. Perhaps the knowledge that there is a viable alternative to oil may help to ease the stress on the world economy.

For both humankind and the planet the sooner we launch a global organic revolution the better. Global Eco has had thirty years of dedicated background - knowledge which we wish to come into mainstream thought, and action.

If this was a war scenario
(i.e. something familiar, something we recognise)
We would be mobilising by now.

I would like to see our universities take up this issue and pursue it with the urgency and determination that it needs.

Please support Global Eco.
